Azerbaijan’s next attack will be toward the southern and northern directions of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), noted Armenia-based Regional Studies Center Director, political analyst Richard Giragosian.

He said this speaking at Tuesday’s discussion on the internal and external factors of the rising of tension at the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.

In his words, in reality, Azerbaijan does not care about human loss. Giragosian stressed that, with its most recent operation, the Azerbaijani side merely attempted to check how good the Armenian armed parties were.

As per the analyst, Azerbaijan just wanted to check what has changed since the events in early April 2016—when Azerbaijan had unleashed a large-scale military aggression against Karabakh. He added that, from this aspect, however, the aforesaid operation was a failure for the Azerbaijani side, and the latter paid dearly for it.

Richard Giragosian stated that, on the other hand, Azerbaijan tried to deceive militarily because it wanted to hide the real objective of its actions.

The political analyst added that, also, the Azerbaijani side wished to deceive the defending side, and to show that, as if, the next attack will be in that direction.
