At least nine people were killed and two more were injured after an operation platform collapsed at a power plant in China.

The accident happened at the No. 7 Thermal Power Plant in the southern provincial capital of Guangzhou.

As local authorities reported, the accident occurred at 8:00 on Saturday.

Local authorities direct a rescue operation directly at the scene. Alleged culprits of the accident are detained. An investigation is underway.
