At least  27,850 migrants and refugees entered Europe by sea in 2017, over 80% arriving in Italy and the rest in Spain and Greece. At least 655 people died along the way,  International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported.

IOM reminded that during the first three months of 2016, more than 165,000 people reached Europe across the Mediterranean Sea, six times more than this year.

On March 30, the UN receive messages on death of more than 140 migrants, who were attempting to cross the Mediterranean.
