The Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) participated in regular sitting of the Socialist International in Paris, Nov. 15-16. The meeting adopted a resolution on Nagorno-Karabakh, Giro Manoyan, Head of the Hay Dat office, ARF, told a press conference Nov. 19.

The Socialist International attaches high importance to progress in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process to establish peace and stability in the region.

The resolution deals with formalization of Nagorno-Karabakh’s status and approval of status, which would be acceptable to the regional states, as well as with rights of displaced people. Also, the organization calls on the sides to respect the cease-fire regime established in 1994.

“The Socialist International also calls on the sides to show political will to resolve the principal problem of the conflict and achieve adequate and simultaneous compromises,” Manoyan said.

Commenting of a statement by Araz Alizade, Chairman of the Social-Democratic Party of Azerbaijan (SDPA), that the Socialist International did not adopt any resolution, Manoyan said that “Alizade was afraid to share the fate of Ayaz Mutalibov, the second SDPA Chairman, who is in exile. So he made a false statement. He just was desirous of returning to Azerbaijan.”

The ARF-D is the only party in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) that is a full member of the Socialist International.
