U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton apologized for leak of secret information concerning Turkey, Turkish FM Ahmet Davutoglu said after meeting with Clinton in Washington.

Davutoglu stressed that disclosure of secret information affects the interests of U.S. and Turkey, as well as relations of the United States with other countries, CNNTurk reported.

The Turkish FM said that Clinton expressed regret and apologized to Turkey and Prime Minister, ITAR-TASS reported. Davutoglu noted that misunderstanding will not harm good ties between Ankara and Washington and will not change Turkey’s attitude towards U.S.

Asked whether such leak is possible in Turkey, Davutoglu stressed that Turkish statehood has 1000- year-old history, whereas foreign policy is based on certain vales and principles. “Even if all world states open archives, Turkey has nothing to be afraid of as our policy is clear and transparent, we have no other standpoint,” he added.

As NEWS.am reported earlier Hillary Clinton stated that the State Department would find out the reasons for leak of confidential diplomatic cables published by WikiLeaks.
