YEREVAN. - The Municipality of Yerevan is going to repair the transportation network of the city,
Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Vahe Nikoyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am.
It is expected to attract loan funds from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). In addition to the loan, the municipality also wants to find grants.
Currently, only five trolleybus routes remain in Yerevan. The program includes at least reparation of the current cable network and renovation of the railway equipment, as well as addition of new routes, if possible. According to the scheme of the Yerevan passenger transport, it is proposed to add a route from Davitashen to Komitas Avenue and from there to the center.
“It is indeed necessary to improve what we have. According to the current estimates, this will require nearly 14 million euro. All the rest will depend on the funds. We will turn to the EBRD and request them to help us find grants. It will be easier for us to set up additional routes together with them,” Nikoyan noted.
