No momentum in the Karabakh peace process is expected at the OSCE Summit in Astana, former Adviser to Armenian first President on National Security Affairs, a professor of Michigan University Zhirayr Liparityan stated in an interview with “Zhamanak” daily.

“The sides will hold a certain diplomatic debate concerning formulations reflected in the resolution, but no significant changes will be registered,” he stressed.

According to him, breakthroughs are likely to be achieved when the Presidents speak of peace instead of resumption of military hostilities.

As for possible rejection of Madrid Principles by Armenia, Liparityan emphasized there is a variety of means to settle the issue.

“For instance, Armenia may give its endorsement to the principles with such number of exceptions and reservations, which will be tantamount to rejection. Armenia may reject the principles of the conflict resolution as they go. However, there is another version.  For example, it may agree on the principles at private meetings but then reject them,” Liparityan underscored.
