From now on, to sell their products, Armenian drug producers will have to get GMP certificates, Samvel Zakaryan, Executive Director of the Union of Drug Manufacturers and Importers, told reporters December 14. The Armenian Government recently set the production standards.
Ghukas Ulikhanyan, Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Association of Armenia, addressed the problem of fakes in the Armenian market. Although the situation is better than in the other CIS member-states (fakes constitute only 5 to 6 per cent), the problem must be dealt with. A special program has been elaborated to be implemented this year. Most of the fakes are sedatives.
Both Zakaryan and Ulikhanyan found it difficult to answer NEWS.am’s question about fines for making and selling fakes.
