The U.S. dollar is in the habit of depreciating on the eve of New Year holidays, which is mainly accounted for by a sharp increase in money transfers and increased U.S. dollar supply.

This year the “traditional” U.S. dollar depreciation began on Dec. 17. A total of U.S. $900,000 were sold at the NASDAQ OMX ARMENIA stock exchange, the average exchange rate being 359 AMD/U.S. $1.

The exchange rate at the close of the trading was 359 AMD/U.S. $1. Most exchange offices purchased U.S. dollars at an exchange rate of 358 AMD/U.S. $1. Most banks are now purchasing U.S. dollars at an exchange rate of 357 AMD/U.S. $1.

Yesterday’s exchange rate at the stock exchange was 360 AMD/U.S. $1.
