The abundance of eloquent speeches was the only positive progress registered in Armenia during 2010, Head of “Heritage” parliamentary faction Stepan Safaryan told the reporters on December 22.

“In 2010 we planted many mines to get slaps in 2011. When alleged car insurance companies begin robbing the nation and lay heavy burden on people’s shoulders, picture of the tragedy will be completed,” Safaryan stressed. The MP regretted not seeing other colures except for dull ones.

He referred to the recent statement by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Republican Party of Armenia (RPA). “I have no comments on Sargsyan’s emphases. However, I want to stress these speeches are challenges to Sargsyan himself, as the president must meet them. According to him, not “Heritage” party or President’s allies, but the Armenian people should give assessments of his speech.

The MP noted the people should give an appraisal whether the staff reshuffles in the Armenian Government were justified, whether they will bring about critical changes, rooting out corruption and strengthening democracy. “I am happy the President has taken up such strong challenges,” the parliamentarian noted.

Heritage member Ruben Hakobyan, who also attended the press conference, branded 2010 as “grave”. According to him, no progress was registered in the country’s foreign policy course, particularly in terms of Armenia-Turkey rapprochement and Karabakh conflict resolution. “This year proved the initiative policy was irrational and we all witnessed its results,” he concluded
