Turkey attaches great significance to regional stability and cooperation, Turkish President Abdullah Gul stated at the summit meeting of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Istanbul.

“Armenia is our neighbor and we attach high importance to the normalization of relations with it. Significant steps have been taken in this direction. I hope all the complicated issues will be solved with joint efforts and peace and stability will be established in the region,” said Gul, Haberler reports.

According to him, chronic issues are not solved at one stroke.  “We need to intensify efforts in this direction.  The current status quo is in nobody’s interests,” the Turkish President emphasized.
