Turkish spy drone Anka “Phoenix” made its first test flight, according to Defense News.

Works to create Anka have been conducted since 2004. A team of 180 engineers worked on the project. Drone belonging to the class of devices with medium-long duration flight is the first of its kind independently developed by Turkey.

Anka has a 155-horsepower diesel engine and is capable to fly at an altitude of up to nine thousand feet at 220 kilometers per hour and stay aloft for up to 23 hours. Wingspan is 17.3 meters, and load capacity is 1.6 tons. The implementation of Anka in military will begin in 2012, Lenta.ru reports.
