Armenia will occur in a dangerous situation with Turkey’s chairmanship in the CE Committee of Ministers, Naira Zohrabyan, member of the Armenian delegation to PACE, head of European Integration committee, said at today’s press conference. She also stressed that president of the PACE Mevlut Cavusoglu is a Turk as well.

“Chairmanship of Ahmet Davutoglu in the ministerial committee and Mevlut Cavusoglu in PACE is a dangerous Turkish tandem for Armenia. However, the Armenian delegation to PACE is ready to resist all challenges and is actively working,” Zohrabyan said. She noted that chairmanship in the ministerial committee creates more opportunities for Cavusoglu to set up committee on Nagorno-Karabakh. However, the Armenian delegation must boycott work of the committee if it is created, she added.

Speaking of the PACE winter session opening in Strasburg, the MP noted there are no issues directly referring to Armenia on the agenda. However, she said there are certain issues that somehow affect problems the Armenian side is interested in. Naira Zohrabyan intends to voice three problems and direct a number of crucial questions to the Turkish President and Foreign Minister after they deliver speeches at the session.

She will also demand explanations from her Polish colleagues concerning the statement on Nagorno-Karabakh issued by country’s foreign ministry. Polish Foreign Ministry forbad its citizens to visit Nagorno-Karabakh, “as it is Azerbaijan’s territory according to the international law”

Zohrabyan highly assessed work of the Armenian delegation in international agencies, stressing that results of efficient work are tangible.
