At least seven people were killed and 22 injured in a riot at the prison of the eastern Mexican state of Veracruz, EFE reported.
According to the source, the riot began at La Toma prison, located in the mountain city of Amatlan de Los Reyes.
Fifteen policemen have been wounded as the result of the incident.
The country's authorities ordered to launch an investigation.
