At his press conference January 19, he said that it is too early for the country’s political forces to map out their strategies, as there is still much time until the parliamentary elections in Armenia. The political forces that will launch their election campaigns too early will make a false start, he said. “During this year Armenia’s political forces will be getting ready for parliamentary elections. The extra-parliamentary Opposition, Armenian National Congress, is obviously doing it. The parliamentary coalition will do the same,” Iskandaryan said. Serious re-alignment may be expected in the latter half of this year.

Commenting on the recent resignations and appointments in the country, Iskandaryan pointed out that a “personnel revolution” within the Establishment is the key question. “There is a personnel change program, and the incident that involved the ex-mayor of Yerevan is evidence thereof. I do not think it had been masterminded – it is a difficult thing to do. However, it served as the casus belli,” Iskandaryan said.
