Almost 27 kilograms of heroin, worth 2.6 million euros were seized in the main border crossing between Bulgaria and Turkey in the Kapitan Andreevo, on January 31, the Bulgarian Customs Agency reported, writes the French Le Figaro.
The drugs were hidden in a car registered in Bulgaria, carrying a family with two children. Police also arrested a 33-year-old Bulgarian, who was going to receive the drugs.
Kapitan Andreevo border crossing is a usual point of the Balkan drug route from Asia to Europe. Each year, the Bulgarian side seizes about one ton of heroin at this checkpoint.
