Azerbaijan has purchased technico-military equipment worth over $5 billion from Russia, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated after his talks with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, reported Russian News Agency TASS.

“We have discussed further cooperation in the technico-military domain; it already has great traditions,” Aliyev said. “The technico-military products which Azerbaijan has acquired from Russia exceeds $5 billion, and this trend is on the rise.”

“Azerbaijan continues to modernize its armed forces,” he added. “And Russia is a supplier and key global manufacturer of military products in international markets.”

Russia is the leader among the countries from which Azerbaijan buys military equipment. Azerbaijan purchases weapons and military equipment also from Belarus, Israel, Pakistan, Turkey, and the Czech Republic.
