“La Lecture” by Pablo Picasso sold for $ 40.5 million

Painting by Pablo Picasso’s “La Lecture” was sold at auction in London for 25.2 million British Pounds (approximately $ 40.5 million), auction house site posted.

“La Lecture” was the most expensive piece at the auction, held on Tuesday, February 8.  

As reported by Agence France-Presse, seven buyers claimed the painting. The winner was a collector from the U.S., whose name was not disclosed.

“La Lecture” was painted in 1932. The painting depicts the artist’s mistress Marie-Therese Walter, with whom Picasso met in Paris in 1927, recalls Lenta.ru.
