The United States are urging India and Pakistan to show restrains, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said.

Pompeo said he had talked to the leaders of India and Pakistan amid tension in relations between the countries and urged to avoid any actions which could lead to escalation.

The situation in the Indian states of Jammu and Kashmir and border regions of Pakistan escalated after 49 Indian soldiers were killed in a suicide attack of “Army of Muhammed” terrorist organization.

On Tuesday evening Indian air forces targeted the supposed base of the militants on the territory of Pakistan. Two Indian fighter jets were shot down, Pakistani military officials said.

The shooting on the border continued on Tuesday, while Russia, U.S. and EU called on the parties to show restraint.
