YEREVAN. – There is a legal procedure. The deadline until the bill on changing the government structure should have remained on e-draft was over on Thursday.

Suren Papikyan, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Development, on Friday told about the aforementioned to reporters in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia. He noted this when asked why this bill’s submission to parliament was being delayed.

In his words, it would not have been right to immediately submit this proposed law to the legislature.

“The process proceeds in the normal course,” Papikyan added. “The deadline is over. With the next phase, it will appear at the government session, and then it will be brought to the NA. There is no secret, nothing is done behind the scenes, everything is known and simple to everyone.”

Under the said bill, the number of Armenia’s ministries is planned to be reduced from seventeen down to twelve. In particular, there will no longer be the Ministries of Culture, Agriculture, Diaspora, and Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources.
