YEREVAN. – In accordance with its mandate, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will continue to visit Armenian citizen Karen Ghazaryan in Azerbaijan on a regular basis. Zara Amatuni, Communications and Prevention Manager of the ICRC Delegation in Yerevan told the above, in response to a query by Armenian News-NEWS.am. She noted that representatives of the ICRC Delegation in Baku kept visiting the person since he was detained in Azerbaijan, to monitor his treatment, conditions of detention and to help ensure that he remains in contact with his family. The last such visit was made in February.

Armenian national Karen Ghazaryan was captured by Azerbaijan last summer.

Even though this young man has mental disorders, this does not prevent Azerbaijani authorities from portraying him as a “saboteur.”

And on February 27, an Azerbaijani court sentenced him to 20 years in prison.
