Elliott Abrams, the US Special Representative for Venezuela, said his country’s administration has not yet made a decision on imposing unilateral sanctions against the countries which support Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, but it does not rule out the possibility of using this mechanism, Russian News Agency TASS reported.

“We have not yet introduced them, secondary sanctions. Undoubtedly, this is possible,” he said “We have not yet made this decision. It is always possible.”

He stated the aforesaid in response to the query as to whether the US considers imposing sanctions, especially on Russia, Cuba and India, with respect to the situation in connection with Venezuela.

Abrams assured, however, that Washington’s sanctions imposed on Venezuela over recent months could be lifted later on.

He added that their objective is to make people change their behavior.
