The Light faction has placed into circulation a draft decision of the Council of Elders by which members of the Council of Elders will be able to submit to the mayor the issues and questions raised by citizens and express views on those issues and questions in a regulated manner. This is stated in the statement issued by the Bright Armenia Party.
The existing rules and regulations do not envisage raising city-related issues during a session or expressing views on them during discussion on issues on the agenda since the content of a particular speech might not fall in line with the issue being discussed.
This decision proposes to have an opportunity for a question-and-answer session with the executive at the end of each session of the Council of Elders and make an up to 3-minute statement.
By the existing rules and regulations, a question-and-answer session takes place only four times a year, and members of the Council of Elders raise public issues by asking questions that are off topic.
This draft decision proposes to regulate those issues and make the communication between the staff of the municipality and the members of the Council of Elders more effective.
