The German federal government will not officially accredit  Juan Guaido’s representative Otto Gebauer, whom Juan Guaido, who declared himself interim president of Venezuela, sent to Berlin as a diplomatic representative, DW reported referring to Die Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung.

The regional German newspaper refers to the response of the German Foreign Ministry to the request of the Left Party that came to its disposal.

According to the statement of the German foreign ministry, Berlin accepted Gebauer on March 13 as the personal representative of the interim President of Guaido, with whom the German authorities will continue the dialogue on political topics. No further steps in this regard are foreseen, the MFA noted.

Spain first of all insisted that Gebauer should not be granted diplomatic status, as well as the associated privileges.

As reported earlier, the leader of the opposition, the speaker of the Venezuelan parliament, Juan Guaido, proclaimed himself the interim president of Venezuela. The US, a number of European countries, including Germany, and some Latin American countries have recognized Guaido as the president of Venezuela. Russia and China consider Nicolas Maduro to be the legitimate president of the country.
