Democrats and Republicans in the US Congress rejected US President Donald Trump’s proposals to cut the budget for diplomacy and foreign aid, finding it dangerous for national security, which paved the way for the budget battle with the White House, Reuters reported.

Congressman Hal Rogers, the ranking Republican on the House of Representatives subcommittee that oversees State Department spending, stated that he "is disappointed" with Trump's budget proposal.

Democratic Representative Nita Lowey, who chairs the full Appropriations committee and the subcommittee, also rejected Trump’s proposal.
