On 3 April, Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, who is on an official visit to Addis Ababa, met with Speaker of the Ethiopian House of Peoples Representatives Tagesse Chafo.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the parties emphasized the strong and historic ties between Armenia and Ethiopia as a good basis for further enhancement and deepening of the bilateral relations. Armenia’s foreign minister stated that Armenia is committed to giving a new impetus to the relations between the two friendly countries.
Mnatsakanyan and Chafo benchmarked the steps to be taken for expansion of the bilateral agenda, highlighting the need for intensification of contacts between the two countries’ parliaments, including through the reciprocal visits of high-ranking representatives.
High technologies, science, education, trade and economy were set aside as priority directions for cooperation.
Minister Mnatsakanyan presented the latest developments of the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process. In this context, the parties attached importance to the fact that it is necessary to shape an environment promoting peace in order for the negotiations to advance.
