On 4 April, during the official visit to Addis-Ababa, Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Zohrab Mnatsakanyan had a meeting with ambassadors of Francophone countries accredited to Ethiopia.

Armenia’s foreign minister drew the ambassadors’ attention to the results of the 17th Summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie and the related events held in Yerevan. In this context, the ambassadors of the Francophone countries congratulated Armenia on successfully organizing and holding the summit in Yerevan.

Armenia’s foreign minister thoroughly presented the priorities of Armenia’s two-year chairmanship in the summit and the promotion of the economic component of cooperation between Francophone countries.

Presenting Armenia’s foreign policy priorities, Minister Mnatsakanyan emphasized that the official visit to Ethiopia shows Armenia’s commitment to giving a new impetus to the relations with African countries and that the Francophonie serves as the great platform for exchange of ideas and effective experiences.

The foreign minister emphasized that during its chairmanship, Armenia intends to promote the dissemination of humanitarian values, as well as further strengthening of the unity of Francophone societies and peace and welfare in the Francophone area.

Mnatsakanyan stressed the fact that the summit in Yerevan reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to the values of the Organization.

Armenia’s foreign minister and the ambassadors of the Francophone countries thoroughly exchanged views on Armenia’s foreign policy priorities, the problems facing La Francophonie and the steps to be taken to respond to those problems together.
