The throne of the French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) was sold at auction in the historical residence of the French monarchs of Fontainebleau for € 500 thousand, TASS reported.

The imperial throne sold for € 500 thousand, including fees, the Osenat auction house tweeted.

As reported earlier, the carved, gilded armchair is estimated at only € 80,000 amid disputes over its authenticity.

For a long time it was believed that there are only five thrones of Napoleon. One was at the Palais des Tuileries, the other at Château de Saint-Cloud, the third in the Senate, where it remains to this day, the fourth at the French National Assembly, and the fifth at the Hôtel de Ville.

However, Osenat assured that the experts studied this lot for six months, and its authenticity is beyond doubt, and the history of the lot is documented.
