Death toll in Sri Lanka blasts has risen to 160 as a result of six blasts that targeted hotels and churches in Sri Lanka, News First reported.
According to AP, the number of injured reached 500. An official told AP that at least two of the blasts were suspected to have been caused by suicide bombers.
Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe said he strongly condemns the cowardly attacks on the Sri Lanka people today.
“I call upon all Sri Lankans during this tragic time to remain united and strong. Please avoid propagating unverified reports and speculation. The government is taking immediate steps to contain this situation,” he tweeted.
Education minister of Sri Lanka said the lessons in schools and universities have been canceled.
Minister of economic reforms Harsha de Silva tweeted there are many casualties including foreigners.
The blasts occurred in a Catholic church and three hotels in Colombo as well as in two churches in Negombo and Batticaloa.
