US President security advisor John Bolton confirmed Wednesday that the country will withdraw from the agreement on the elimination of medium-range and shorter-range missiles on August 2, RIA Novosti reported.

The INF Treaty was concluded in 1987 between the US and the Soviet Union, the successor of which was Russia. The intention to withdraw from the treaty the US officially announced six months ago.

According to him, Russia continued to develop advanced ballistic and hypersonic delivery systems to modernize its arsenal in violation of the treaty.

He noted that another problem was that China was not a party to the deal and was developing missiles that the US could not develop under the INF Treaty.

Earlier this year, Washington announced a unilateral withdrawal from the treaty, accusing Russia of violating it. Moscow denies all charges. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law early July on the suspension of the contract. He said that Russia would not be drawn into the costly arms race.
