The official economic indicators of the Armenian authorities do not correspond to reality, the economist Mesrop Manukyan told reporters on Tuesday.

According to him, this can be fixed by analyzing only one figure.

According to official data, 576 thousand employees are registered in the country, however, the calculation of fees to the ‘AMD 1000’ fund shows that this number is 501 thousand, he said adding that the end of the period of cars import on preferential terms will affect the growth of tourism, and this is due to the fact that citizens of the Eurasian Economic Union member states, coming to buy cars in Armenia, stay here for several days and spend additional money. “The bad news is that the money raised from the sale of cars is spent inefficiently in order to subsequently ensure the continuity of tax revenues,” he added.

According to the economist, in addition, the actions of the authorities on the Amuslar issue and their relationship with the Sanitek company will undoubtedly affect the country's investment attractiveness, as this concerns the decision to conduct an additional environmental risk assessment and mutual accusations of the City Hall and Sanitek.

He noted that Armenia does not use the opportunities of the Eurasian Union membership as during this time, it was possible to carry out serious reforms, in particular in the field of agriculture, improve infrastructure, introduce an effective anti-hail and irrigation system, which would allow local producers to withstand competition with manufacturers from other countries of the Union.
