The first stage is over but struggle continues, Raffi Hovhannisian told journalists today after he announced the hunger strike is over. We will return to the square and various platforms to assess the current situation in Armenia, moves of the authorities and problems within the opposition, he added. He also thanked everyone for moral support.

Hovannisian started his speech citing political and ideological leader of India, philosopher Mahatma Gandhi, “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”

“We must go back and continue our struggle. In this struggle there will be no people who will advance and those who will remain in the shade, there will be a clear leader and no citizen will remain unnoticed,” he said.

Several hundreds gathered in Liberty Square, some of them are holding banners with demands.

Leader of the Heritage Party Raffi Hovannisian went on hunger strike on March 14 in Liberty Square of Yerevan where he was later visited by top officials, public and political figures.
