Chair of the Turkish-Azerbaijan Women’s Association Tanzila Rustamhanli rejected invitation to participate in an international conference held in Nagorno-Karabakh, she told Azerbaijani Trend news agency.

An international conference held within the framework of Women for Peace program is scheduled for May 5. Earlier Tanzila Rustamhanli refused to attend a conference held in Yerevan as well.

“Nagorno-Karabakh is Azerbaijan’s territory and each person wishing to visit it has to ask for the permission of Azerbaijani state. It is illegal to hold conference without Azerbaijan’s permission,” she said.

In fact, Tanzila Rustamhanli confessed Azerbaijani authorities forbid her from visiting Yerevan and Nagorno-Karabakh. On the one hand, Azerbaijan is formally participating in Women for Peace program led by Belgian Senator Dominique Tilmans, but on the other hampers any attempts to establish dialogue.

Last year the Armenian participant failed to attend conference in Baku due to efforts of the Azerbaijani side.
