The only solution to the Karabakh conflict is a possibility to implement internationally recognized right of the Karabakh people to self-determination peacefully, said Armenian President.
Serzh Sargsyan said he had discussed the Karabakh peace process during his meting with President of Swiss Confederation Micheline Calmy-Rey. “In particular I touched upon a trilateral meeting held in Sochi. I want to believe that Azerbaijan’s words and deeds will not differ,” he stressed. The Armenian leader said the conflict should be resolved peacefully and solution must be achieved through negotiations, no matter how difficult it may be.
Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders met in the Russian city of Sochi this March at the initiative of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. The sides adopted a joint statement agreeing to conclude exchange of prisoners of war, strive to solve all contentious issues through peaceful means and to conduct along the cease-fire line an investigation with the participation of the parties under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and with the assistance of the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office regarding probable incidents.
