Twenty-three people were killed during protest actions in Baghdad and provinces, AP reported quoting Iraqi security officials.

Most of them were killed after tear gas canisters were fired directly at protesters.

Large-scale demonstrations began in early October with protests against corruption, unemployment and poor social services. Protest actions resumed after a three-day break.
