Yerevan Municipality today hosted open public hearings during which citizens and civil society representatives asked questions and made comments and suggestions regarding the 2020 Budget of Yerevan Municipality, as well as the annual and five-year plans for city development.

The sector-specific representatives and Deputy Mayor Hayk Sargsyan answered the citizens’ questions.

The citizens asked about the projects for landscaping, replacement of elevators, participatory governance and ensuring of access for disabled persons.

When citizens asked why the project for replacement of elevators was not included in the budget, the deputy mayor explained that the program isn’t going to be implemented at the expense of the budget.

Talking about participatory governance, the deputy mayor stated that there had been public deliberations over the draft of the budget last year as well and that the draft budget is based on the problems that citizens have raised throughout the year.

The municipality has an idea of having a particular organization deal with landscaping and environmental protection.

The deputy mayor thanked the attendees for their questions and participation.
