Ahead of his trip to Washington, PM Abdalla Hamdok tells Bel Trew in Khartoum that the Trump administration should de-list Sudan as a state sponsor of terrorism, The Independent reported.
Hamdok will also meet in Washington with a number of American dignitaries.
According to the Sudanese agency SUNA, Hamdok’s visit to the US will last six days, accompanied by a number of Sudanese ministers.
Sudan was listed by the US as a sponsor of terrorism on August 12, 1993. Sanctions limit the ability of Sudanese banks to work with foreign partners. Sudan’s new prime minister, Abdullah Hamduk, has earlier announced the start of talks with the US on the de-listing of countries supporting terrorism.
