YEREVAN. – Three young people were released from the Yerevan’s central police department on Tuesday evening.
Earlier in the day police apprehended 24 young people during a protest action calling for resignation of Education Minister Arayik Harutyunyan.
One of the protesters Gerasim Vardanyan said they had met with Ombdusman Arman Tatoyan.
Talking to reporters, the young men said the government is “playing with fire” , and the authorities have “deep misunderstanding” of what is going on.
According to the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent, several protesters were released from the Erebuni police department, too.
As reported earlier, the protesters invited the head of the Ministry of Education to meet, and tried to break into the building of the department after his refusal. The young people sat down at the entrance to the ministry, while law enforcement officers demanded that the protesters release the entrance to the building. The police forced the young people back. Protesters blocked Vazgen Sargsyan Street in response and were later taken to police departments.
