YEREVAN. – This year extensive work has been done on large public food establishments. Edvard Hovhannisyan, Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia, stated this during a meeting with journalists today.

According to him, it has been found that many public food establishments in the country have failed to accurately calculate their turnover, the actual amount of salaries paid to employees, and evaded their tax obligations, and therefore criminal cases have been initiated in several such cases.

The SRC deputy chairman also noted that according to the 11 months of 2019, the SRC has initiated 409 criminal cases related to economic crimes, and the vast majority of which relate to tax evasion and contraband.

As per Hovhannisyan, 63 less criminal cases were opened in 2018, the damage to the state in 2018 was 20.2 billion drams, whereas in 2019 - 20.8 billion drams.

During the 11 months of 2019, the SRC initiated 27,165 administrative proceedings, amounting to 452 million drams in fines; in fact, 370 million drams has been restored.

“In the same period of 2018, 22,083 administrative proceedings were initiated,” he said. "In fact, 403 million drams were levied."

According to the SRC deputy chairman, 26,108 payment decisions on unpaid tax liabilities were made, totaling 55.5 billion drams, as a result of which 37 billion drams were restored to the state budget. “In 2018, 5,380 such decisions were made in the amount of 17.2 billion drams,” Edvard Hovhannisyan added. “In fact, 13.2 billion drams have been restored.”
