YEREVAN. – Armenia’s government, led Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, today discussed the Ministry of Finance's request for 2020 budget allocations.

Finance Minister Atom Janjughazyan reported that downsizing has continued in the ministry, with the number of staff being reduced to 382 instead of 556 in 2018, down by 31%. He added that during this period, 13 of the ministry’s 17 service vehicles were written off.

Then Janjughazyan touched upon the payment of Armenia’s national debt, stressing that it is being implemented with a progressive pace. According to him, Armenia is considered to be a country with less debt and it is expected that in 2020, its national debt-to-GDP ratio will be below 50%.

During the discussion they also touched upon the opportunities and future plans of the securities market development, reforms in the procurement system, and some other financial topics.
