The Union of Journalists of Armenia strictly condemns the troubling fact that the journalists of Zhoghovurd daily newspaper were exposed to violence while fulfilling their professional duties. This is stated in the statement issued by the Union of Journalists of Armenia. The statement particularly reads as follows:

“It is strange that such despicable things can happen in a country that made a democratic, velvet and non-violet revolution which, as a matter of fact, was made possible through the professional work of journalists.

We urge the law-enforcement authorities of the country to immediately launch an investigation into the incident and bring all the culprits to justice in the manner prescribed by law.”
