YEREBAN. – The Nubarashen and Convicts Hospital penitentiaries shall be liquidated. Artur Goyunyan, Head of the Penitentiary Service of Armenia, said this at a press conference today.
"A new penitentiary, meeting international standards and will have a separate inpatient hospital, will be built on approximately 10 hectares of land in Yerevan," he added. “The Yerevan-Kentron institution is intended to relocate the former Erebuni penitentiary from the NSS administrative building.
The Hrazdan penitentiary is also planned to be liquidated; instead, to build a new, modern-day requirement-meeting penitentiary near the Sevan penitentiary located on approximately 7 hectares, with a staff of the Hrazdan penitentiary—in closed and semi-closed regimes. The Goris penitentiary is also planned to be liquidated; it is planned to build a new penitentiary in Khndzoresk."
