A year of 2019 only added uncertainty to the position of the new authorities of Armenia on the Karabakh issue, Armenian first ombudswoman Larisa Alaverdyan told reporters on Monday.
“It was believed that the prime minister continues the policy of the first president. I believe that this is not so. The first president spoke very bluntly. This was a gross political mistake, but he said directly about his consent to the stay of Karabakh within Azerbaijan as an Autonomous Republic. We don’t see such certainty in the prime minister,” she said.
Alaverdyan noted that there is nothing new in the historical plan, but the political one is fraught with problems.
Speaking about the possibility of a phased version or signing of certain documents, Alaverdyan noted that any document signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan would have no legal significance for Artsakh.
Despite all this, Larisa Alaverdyan is optimistic: “But optimism is based on the nature of Armenians. We should no longer be subjected to pressure in any form.”
