Scandalous resignations, trials, repressions against courts and protests will continue in Armenia in 2020 as well. This is what Director of the Caucasus Institute, political scientist Alexander Iskandaryan told journalists today.

According to him, the resignations of the director of the National Security Service and the Chief of Police were predictable. “The method through which the revolutionaries came to power was a hint that there would be problems within the state apparatus, and the Prime Minister talked about this. However, Prime Minister Pashinyan understands that he doesn’t have appropriate resources and people who can replace 30,000 employees. It’s not even about people, but the absence of a system, without which it will be impossible to talk about effective parliamentary governance,” he stated.

The political scientist stated that the new forces came to power on the background of the fact that they were rejecting the old, and this helped ensure the necessary social base, but after they rejected the old, there was no major change in people’s lives, and this sparked a demand for protests.
