The Italian Supreme Court has allowed small amounts of cannabis to be grown at home, MIGnews reports.
It will be legal if the cannabis is used for personal use without distributing it.
Authorities fear that such a decision would have critical consequences, creating more opportunities for drug sales.
In the past, growing cannabis was considered a crime in Italy, irrespective of the amount of the plant and the nature of the use of the grown product.
