US Attorney General William Barr has appointed a new attorney in the capital, Washington, AP reported.

"Attorney General William Barr on Thursday named Timothy Shea, one of his closest advisers, to be the next top prosecutor in the nation’s capital," the source said.

Shea will manage the largest US prosecutor's office, historically responsible for some of the country's most significant and political sensitive cases.

The Senate usually approves the appointment of the prosecutor of the American capital, but according to the law, federal judges also have the right to vote for a candidate for this post.
