Armenia’s Minister of Healthcare Arsen Torosyan met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China in Armenia Tian Erlong to discuss the coronavirus situation, as reported the Ministry of Healthcare of Armenia.

The Ambassador informed that the situation is complicated, yet stable. According to Chinese specialists, trepidation may last a week and become stable. Tian Erlong stated that the disease is now at its peak, but controllable. He assured that all the necessary measures are being taken to overcome the situation and emphasized that China is open for international cooperation.

The minister expressed gratitude for providing information regarding the actions being taken in China and added that the Prime Minister of Armenia has decided to set up an inter-agency commission that held its session today and discussed the coronavirus situation, as well as the completed and upcoming actions.

The situation in China is still tense due to the new coronavirus (2019-nCoV). According to the World Health Organization (WHO), China has recorded 12,167 suspected and 7,736 confirmed cases of death caused by the coronavirus. Cases have also been recorded in other countries, including Europe.

Taking into consideration the epidemic due to the coronavirus, the visa free regime for citizens of the People’s Republic of China to enter the Republic of Armenia is being temporarily suspended between February 1 and March 31, 2020.
