AFP reports that the guitar that guitarist of the rock band Nirvana Kurt Cobain played during the band’s performance on MTV’s Unplugged has been sold for a record-setting $6,000,000, becoming the most expensive guitar ever sold at an auction.

The starting price of the historical lot was $1,000,000.

The guitar that Cobain played just five months before committing suicide has been purchased by Peter Friedman, who stated that he plans to tour the world to present the guitar and use all proceeds from his concerts to support the performing arts.
