Martial law in Armenia, the lifting of which the authorities don’t consider necessary, is not only restricting the freedom of citizens, but is also having an impact on the country’s economic situation. This is what leader of Bright Armenia Party and the homonymous faction of the National Assembly Edmon Marukyan said during today’s briefings in parliament.

Marukyan stated that the opposition’s main goal is to lift martial law and restore people’s rights and freedoms.

“After martial law is lifted, citizens can freely hold demonstrations, and it will be safe to talk about holding rallies and demonstrations,” Marukyan explained and mentioned that maintenance of martial law is also having an impact on the country’s economy.

“There is extreme poverty in the country, and people are starting to feel this. However, the government isn’t lifting martial law just to maintain the bans,” he said.
