Several hundred Syrian refugees crossed the Turkish border before town of Jisr al-Shughour was besieged by columns of government tanks on Tuesday, The Guardian writes.
The Syrian government claimed 120 security force members were killed over the weekend.
A town with population of 41,000 was largely abandoned, the newspaper writes. Human right activists reported about 59 killed civilians.
Turkish authorities say many of refugees are wounded.
